BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1987 in Bern, Switzerland. Jan Baumgartner is a self-taught filmmaker. He discovered his passion for photography and filmmaking through extensive traveling worldwide. Initially, he was trained in health care as a nursing professional. He currently lives in Bern and Sarajevo and works as a freelance filmmaker. The war and its impact on society are central themes he deals with in his works. His short film TALKING SOIL screened in the International Competition in Winterthur. THE DNA OF DIGNITY is his first feature-length documentary and premiered in Locarno’s Critics Week.
